I graduated nurse practitioner school in 2016. It was the culmination of my life’s greatest challenge. It has been the best decision I ever made. Would I have made it sooner? No, because I believe we all have a journey and without the right experiences the foundation for success isn’t properly laid. I was a part-time bedside nurse for 15 years while my husband traveled for work. It was the best of both worlds - SAHM + nursing.

As a serial job hopper, I’ve had a lot of experiences. I’ve spent time as a registered nurse in: emergency room, travel nursing, palliative care, home health care, surgical-trauma intensive care unit, and finally medical intensive care units. I can tell you all about those experiences…

Since graduation I have worked exclusively in critical care medicine as a nurse practitioner. I adore every aspect of this challenging work. I have the privilege of working for a group who value advanced practice provider collaboration. My physician mentors have taught me so much and are invested in growing my skills. It is a true blessing.

I am wife to John, a training developer, who only occasionally rolls his eyes when I pitch my latest hair-brained idea. He is my anchor in the storm and the wind beneath my wings. I’m also mom to Paige, Hannah, and Molly. God knew exactly what he was doing when he gave me three girls. I was not created to sit on ball fields. Bring on the theater, malls, and boy bands. Parenting through the teenage years is a highlight for me. I know, it’s weird. But these are some phenomenal girls!

Hiking. Ahhh. The woods are where I go to recharge. To shake off the trauma of covid. To bask in the silence or submerge in the latest podcast obsession. To ground myself in what matters. To do my best thinking. I could spend hours out here.

In February of 2020 I was given the opportunity to narrate a hospital film designed to be an introduction to the intensive care unit for our new admits. It was love at first shoot. I blossomed on camera, and I think everyone there would confirm - I had too much fun.

Fast forward to March of 2020 - you know the rest. Literal pandemonium and so much misinformation. I started creating informational videos and they went viral. Add a little pivot - et voila! I found the platform I was subconsciously seeking to help other nurse practitioners.

Meet: Bree, NP now officially a mentor

Idk I mean how does one “officially” become a mentor?

Let’s just say I started labeling what I’m doing, and that’s what I aim to be. I started this social media platform to answer the questions I am constantly asked at work. This is a pretty giant leap of faith - especially when looking at advancing your practice. The nurse practitioner field in particular is so competitive. Will I get in? Will I pass? Will there be a job for me???

These are all natural questions and things I worried about as well. I remember scouring the net for anyone out there to tell me. There weren’t many resources. So here I am, at your disposal. I hope to offer you advice, guidance, support - basically anything you need to get you where you want to be.

The world needs more of your unique brand. Let me help you give it to them.
